Rocket Health launches USSD code *280# for healthcare access.
Uganda’s leading telemedicine service provider, Rocket Health, has introduced a new interactive USSD short code, *280#, to ease access to healthcare services anytime, anywhere. With the new shortcode, anyone with a mobile phone can easily make requests for doctor consultations, laboratory tests, pharmacy products, schedule clinic appointments, subscribe to healthcare plans, chronic care management and have access to exclusive offers.
Speaking at the press conference held on Wednesday, May 5th 2021, Rocket Health Managing Director, Dr Davis Musinguzi said, “We are excited to launch the *280# short code that is purely dedicated to healthcare. So many people use USSD every day with no need for airtime or data making it a perfect channel to access healthcare professionals and services for every Ugandan anywhere anytime.”
He added, “The shortcode will save customers the trouble of finding or remembering multiple phone numbers associated with different health services and Rocket Health partnerships with medical insurance providers.”
The USSD menu offers customers an array of services which include;
1. Phone Doctor Consultations: For anyone who needs to get medical advice from a trained and licensed medical doctor, your simplest and quickest way is to dial *280#.
With only 10,000 shillings, you can have a phone consultation with the Doctors at Rocket Health and pay using mobile money from the comfort of your home or office.
The service also allows for the use of medical insurance with UAP Old Mutual, Jubilee, ICEA, Prudential, Liberty, Sanlam, AAR and GA Insurance by adding one’s member identification number to consult the doctors.
Rocket Health doctors are available 24 hours, every day of the week, and can be reached from any part of the country.
2. Laboratory and Pharmacy Services: When you dial *280# and select the laboratory or pharmacy service option, you will be able to order laboratory tests or pharmacy products respectively, make payments or request a member of our team to call you back.
3. Clinic Appointments: By dialling *280#, you can easily schedule appointments at the Rocket Health Clinic to see a general doctor, specialist or request a vaccine. The available specialists include Physicians, Pediatricians, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Plastic Surgery and more.
4. Subscription Services: Through the short-code, anyone can conveniently sign up for an annual subscription plan by registering yourself or a loved one. These services allow registered members to enjoy discounts on all Rocket Health services and help them manage medical conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Arthritis and others through our Chronic Care Management Program.
The Communications Manager, Sandra Arinaitwe remarked “The USSD code, *280#, will enhance our customer experience. It is simple, easy to remember and the services can be accessed on both smartphones and feature phones.”
She added, “At the moment the USSD code is available on MTN and Airtel mobile networks.” The USSD code will supplement other existing channels that include the toll-free customer contact line 0800 277015, the e-Shop at www.rockethalth.shop, SMS and social media platforms.
